On 15th October 2008, we were joined by Stuart Ryland (Chaplain at Priory Secondary School) and Michael Hall (Diocesan Senior Education Officer).
Stuart Ryland spoke about his role at the Priory School and the strong Christian presence there. In addition to the pastoral care he provides for students and staff, he organises lunchtime and afterschool clubs, a voluntary holy communion once a half term and a retreat for younger pupils.
Michael Hall spoke about changes to church primary school in Dorking. There are plans for Westcott School and Abinger Common to become a federation and for an increase in admissions to St Michaels which will be a feeder school for St Martin's at Year Two. Since our meeting there have been further developments regarding our primary schools. More details can be found here.
As the new academic year begins it is an important time to be thinking and praying for our schools. At the time of writing the Priory School are looking for more governors. If you know of anyone who may be able to help or who would like to find out more about what is involved, please contact Ted Clark.
